My Magic Remedy For Aching Bones

 

I'm a big fan of natural remedies so several years ago when I visited my GP for problems with my fingers and was told I have arthritis and I'd need medication for the rest of my life I politely declined knowing there was another way.

Over the 17 years of being a smallholder my poor hands have suffered a multitude of injury's including having the ends of three fingers and a thumb bitten off by dogs and a horse then stitched back on again and a number of times getting them trapped in the cattle crush!

So, I've had my fair share of injury which has resulted in this painful problem.  I'm quite lucky in that it only really flairs up in winter when I'm working out on cold damp days for hours on end.

I spent a while looking for a natural remedy that would help me before I came across the health benefits of turmeric and decided to give it a try.

Many of the good quality drinks and supplements were expensive and not very nice at all to take, I decided I'd try my hand at making my own!

After many failed attempts I eventually developed the right balance of flavoursome ingredients to blend into my delicious turmeric latte.

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp coconut milk powder
  • 1 tbsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 100ml Warm milk of your choice
  • tsp Honey or coconut sugar to sweeten 

To make – Add the turmeric, coconut milk powder and black pepper to a small jar or ramakin, cover and shake well to blend the ingredients.  use a heaped teaspoon (about 3g) to a cup, add approximately 50ml of cold water, coconut water or your favourite milk for a smooth drink and mix into a paste. Top up with boil water or warm milk (I recommend using a milk of your choice for a smooth creamy drink) and add a teaspoon of honey or coconut sugar to make a truly comforting drink.
